Apple iOS 17.4 update introduces transcripts for Apple Podcasts; Know what’s it about

Apple has released the highly anticipated iOS 17.4 update for iPhone and iPad users. The update brings with it a new feature that many have been eagerly awaiting – Apple Podcasts transcripts. This feature allows users to access full-text displays of podcast episodes on the Apple Podcasts app, making it easier to navigate and locate specific content.

According to Apple Support, transcripts provide users with the full text of each episode, highlighting each word as it is spoken during playback. Users can easily tap on a specific word to start listening from that point, enhancing the overall podcast experience. Apple’s senior director of global Accessibility Policy and Initiatives, Sarah Herrlinger, expressed excitement about making transcripts widely available to all users, adding an additional layer of accessibility to the Podcasts experience.

The transcripts feature is expected to improve the user experience in several ways, allowing users to quickly find information from episodes, share content with others, and enhance their overall podcast listening experience. New episodes will have transcripts automatically generated upon publication, with older episodes receiving transcripts gradually. Deaf users will also benefit from transcripts, as they can read the text without needing to listen to the episode.

Apple has made transcripts available in four languages – English, French, Spanish, and German – with plans to potentially expand to more languages in the future. Users can download the iOS 17.4 update on their iPhone and iPad devices to start enjoying this new feature and enhance their podcast listening experience.
