Threads Gets Tags Feature That Lets Users Link Phrases, Emojis in Posts, Rolling Out Globally

In a bid to enhance user experience, Threads is currently testing a new feature that allows users to view real-time search results directly on their feeds. The Instagram-owned microblogging service has introduced this feature to a select group of users, with plans to roll it out to all users later this year. The move is seen as a step towards competing with other platforms, including the likes of Twitter.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri recently confirmed the testing of the real-time search feature on Threads. This confirmation came after a user shared a post highlighting the addition of ‘Top’ and ‘Recent’ buttons at the top of the feed. Mosseri explained that the ‘Recent’ option is not a purely chronological timeline but displays more recent posts than the ‘Top’ feed.

It is worth noting that the real-time search feature is currently being tested with a limited number of Threads users. Those who do not see the new sections on their timeline after updating the application are not part of the testing group. While there is no specified timeline for a global rollout, the feature is expected to eventually reach all users.

In addition to the real-time search feature, Threads recently introduced a “saved posts” feature, allowing users to bookmark posts for later viewing. The platform is also testing a new section called ‘Today’s Topics,’ intended to display real-time trending posts without the use of hashtags. Users will be able to engage in discussions by clicking or tapping on the topics of interest.
