Starling Marte's 3-run homer, Pete Alonso's brilliant play carry Mets to a 6-4 win over the Dodgers

In a thrilling Saturday matchup, the New York Mets defeated the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4, extending their winning streak to six games. Starling Marte’s go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning and Pete Alonso’s impressive rally-killing play were key moments in the Mets’ victory.

The Mets have now won their fifth consecutive series and are on a hot streak with a 12-3 record after a slow start to the season. The Dodgers, on the other hand, continue to struggle at the plate, losing for the seventh time in nine games.

Despite issuing 10 walks, the most since August 15, the Mets secured the win. Reed Garrett recorded his first big league save, celebrating the milestone after 39 saves in the minors and two in Japan. Michael Tonkin, who was claimed off waivers just days ago, earned the win for the Mets.

Marte’s clutch home run and Alonso’s exceptional defensive play were crucial in the Mets’ victory. The Dodgers tried to rally but fell short, missing out on key scoring opportunities throughout the game.

The Mets will look to continue their winning streak in the series finale against the Dodgers on Sunday. Mets’ RHP Adrian Houser is scheduled to start against Dodgers’ LHP James Paxton in what promises to be an exciting matchup.
