Chiefs, Chris Jones reportedly agree to five-year deal with $95 million guaranteed

Chris Jones, the star defensive tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs, has agreed to a lucrative five-year contract extension worth $95 million in guaranteed money, as reported by NFL Network on Saturday. This deal cements his future with the team, where he has been a vital part of their defense.

Jones, a two-time first-team All-Pro player, played a key role in helping the Chiefs secure their second consecutive Super Bowl victory. During the 2023 season, he recorded 30 total tackles and eight in the postseason, including four tackles during the Super Bowl game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Throughout the season, Jones led the team with 29 quarterback hits and 13 tackles for loss. He also registered 10.5 sacks, earning his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl selection and a second straight first-team All-Pro nod. His performance on the field has solidified his reputation as one of the top defensive tackles in the league.

With 65.0 career sacks to his name, Jones ranks second among defensive tackles in the NFL since he entered the league in 2016. Additionally, he holds the fifth spot for the most sacks in franchise history since the statistic became official in 1982. The 29-year-old has spent his entire eight-year NFL career with the Chiefs after being drafted by the team in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

This contract extension not only rewards Jones for his exceptional performance on the field but also ensures that the Chiefs will continue to benefit from his talent and leadership in the coming years.
