Miami Heat guard Jimmy Butler injures knee in play-in loss, will get it examined Thursday

Miami Heat guard Jimmy Butler suffered a knee injury during the team’s play-in tournament loss to the 76ers and will need an MRI on his right knee. The incident occurred in the first quarter when Butler’s knee buckled after a play against Kelly Oubre Jr. Despite the injury, Butler remained in the game, scoring 19 points, but the Heat ultimately fell to the 76ers.

Butler expressed uncertainty about his condition, stating, “It’s not a good feeling, I can tell you that.” He hopes to be able to continue playing but the extent of his injury is yet to be determined. The Heat are set to face the winner of the play-in game between Chicago and Atlanta, with the victor securing the No. 8 seed.

The former Sixer, Butler, who averaged 20.8 points per game for the Heat this season, acknowledged that his performance was impacted by the injury. Despite his efforts, the Heat struggled in the fourth quarter, and Butler admitted he may have hindered rather than helped the team’s chances of victory.

As Butler awaits further evaluation on his knee, the Heat and their fans are left wondering about his availability for the upcoming crucial games. The team will need to adjust their strategy and potentially rely on other players to make up for Butler’s possible absence on the court.
