Arizona State hires former Steelers star Hines Ward as receivers coach

Arizona State University has made a significant move by hiring former Pittsburgh Steelers star, Hines Ward, as its new wide receivers coach. Ward expressed his excitement in joining the team, stating, “It’s an incredible opportunity to share my passion for the game with a group of talented young men and help them reach their full potential.”

Ward’s appointment comes after the departure of Ra’Shaad Samples, who left to take on a coaching role at Oregon. Ward brings a wealth of experience from his time as a player with the Steelers, where he won two Super Bowls and earned four Pro Bowl appearances.

During his career, Ward amassed an impressive 12,083 receiving yards and scored 85 touchdowns. Following his retirement from playing, he transitioned to coaching, previously working with Florida Atlantic and the New York Jets. Ward also has experience as a head coach in the XFL.

With Ward now on board, Arizona State University’s football program is looking to benefit from his expertise and leadership to further develop their wide receivers and elevate their performance on the field. His addition is expected to bring a new level of experience and knowledge to the team, setting high expectations for the upcoming season.
