US firm launches diabetes educational programme for Asia from Singapore, ET HealthWorld

A US-based global diabetes care company, Embecta, has launched a regional educational initiative in Singapore for the Asia-Pacific region, including India. Dr. Shailendra Bajpai, Medical & Public Affairs Director Asia for Embecta, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting Singapore’s fight against diabetes through the emERGE education program. The program aims to benefit healthcare practitioners in Asia and beyond, leveraging Singapore’s strong healthcare model.

The initiative, developed in collaboration with Diabetes Singapore and the Association of Diabetes Educators in Singapore, was officially launched in Singapore and attended by healthcare practitioners, advocacy group leaders, and trade and industry partners. With the rate of diabetes on the rise globally, the International Diabetes Federation projects that 783 million people will be living with diabetes by 2045, in which one million residents in Singapore are estimated to have diabetes by 2050.

The emERGE education program will be rolled out in 11 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, India, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Approximately 5,000 general practitioners, diabetes nurse educators, and lead pharmacists are expected to benefit from a series of four interactive webinars delivered by senior faculty in the coming year.
