Kathmandu: The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu made a generous donation by gifting 35 ambulances and 66 school buses to various organizations in Nepal dedicated to health and education. The vehicles were handed over by India’s Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, in the presence of Nepal’s Finance Minister, Barsha Man Pun. Mayors, Chairpersons, representatives of beneficiary organizations, political representatives, officials of the Nepal government, and social workers were also present at the event.

During the handover ceremony, two ambulances were specifically given to the earthquake-affected districts of Jajarkot and West Rukum. This act of goodwill was carried out as part of the Nepal-India Development Partnership, reinforcing the Indian government’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s infrastructure growth in the health and education sectors.

Since 1994, the Government of India has gifted a total of 1009 ambulances and 300 school buses to Nepal, including the vehicles donated on this occasion. These contributions aim to enhance the healthcare and education facilities in Nepal and improve physical access to these essential services.

In response, Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun expressed his appreciation for India’s ongoing developmental projects in Nepal, recognizing their role in strengthening bilateral relations and people-to-people connectivity between the two countries. He emphasized the significance of these initiatives in benefiting the people of Nepal and fostering continued progress in the nation’s development journey.
