IIT Kanpur and Blockchain for Impact partner to drive healthcare innovation



IIT Kanpur joins hands with Blockchain for Impact to accelerate healthcare innovation, ET HealthWorld

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has entered into a strategic partnership with Bengaluru-based Blockchain For Impact (BFI) under the BFI-Biome Virtual Network Program to drive advancements in healthcare innovation in the country. The collaboration aims to support entrepreneurial initiatives through the Startup Incubation & Innovation Centre (SIIC) at IIT Kanpur.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at IIT Kanpur by Prof. Kantesh Balani, dean of resources and alumni, and BFI CEO Gaurav Singh. Under the partnership, BFI has committed to investing $150,000 over three years to create healthcare-focused startup programs at SIIC, leveraging IIT Kanpur’s expertise in entrepreneurship and BFI’s dedication to biomedical research. The goal is to develop impactful solutions addressing key healthcare challenges in India.

Prof. Balani stated, “This MoU will enhance our knowledge sharing, startup support, and capacity building efforts.” BFI CEO Singh added, “IIT Kanpur’s strong support for entrepreneurs aligns with our mission to accelerate impactful solutions in biomedical research, bridging critical gaps in India’s healthcare ecosystem.”

The collaboration between IIT Kanpur and BFI highlights a significant step towards fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector, aiming to address the pressing healthcare needs in India through cutting-edge solutions and initiatives.
