Indo Count acquires US-based Wamsutta home fashion brand for $10.25 million

Indo Count, India’s leading bed linen manufacturer and exporter, has acquired the international home fashion brand Wamsutta from US-based Beyond, Inc. The acquisition was made on a cash-consideration basis for $10.25 million and closed on April 18, 2024. This move is expected to strengthen Indo Count’s brand portfolio and elevate its position in the premium market segment.

Wamsutta, established in 1846 by Wamsutta Mills in Bedford, Massachusetts, became a popular national brand in the US for bedline products over the years. Springs Industries acquired the brand in the 1980s, and it was later sold to the now-defunct Bed Bath & Beyond retail chain in 2012.

Mohit Jain, Executive Vice Chairman of Indo Count, expressed excitement about the acquisition, stating, “Wamsutta – with its 178-year brand heritage – resonates strongly in the marketplace.” He further mentioned the company’s strategic vision to leverage its operational capabilities to enhance the brand’s value proposition and reach new heights in the global market.

By acquiring Wamsutta, Indo Count aims to explore multiple channels of distribution to cater to the core Wamsutta consumer base and introduce the brand to a new generation. This acquisition represents a significant milestone in Indo Count’s expansion strategy and reinforces its commitment to providing exceptional quality and luxury to customers worldwide.
