2024 Elections: BJP releases ‘Modi ki guarantee’ Manifesto, key promises include ‘one nation, one election’, Uniform Civil Code and focus on social, physical and digital infrastructure

The much-awaited Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls was released on Sunday, titled ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’ Sankalp Patra. The manifesto outlines the party’s roadmap for achieving “Viksit Bharat” (developed country status) by 2047, along with promises of launching ‘one nation, one election’ and a common electoral roll system. The manifesto also includes measures aimed at benefiting the youth, women, farmers, and the poor.

During the launch event at the party headquarters in the capital, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that the BJP’s top priority will be improving the social, physical, and digital infrastructure of the country. He assured that the implementation work on the manifesto would begin immediately after the election results are announced on June 4.

One of the key promises in the manifesto is the introduction of bullet train projects in North, South, and East India, in addition to expanding Vande Bharat trains to every corner of the country. The manifesto also includes plans to bid for hosting the Olympics in 2036.

BJP aims to implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) to govern personal matters such as inheritance, marriage, divorce, and adoption, irrespective of religion, sex, gender, or caste. The party also announced the extension of the Ayushman Bharat scheme coverage to transgenders and senior citizens above 70 years.

In a bid to boost the economy, BJP has promised to establish more Global Capability Centres, Global Tech Centres, and Global Engineering Centres, aiming to make India a global hub for High-Value Services. The party also pledged to make Bharat the global hub for various emerging sectors.

Senior leaders of the BJP, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and BJP President J P Nadda, were present at the unveiling of the manifesto. The event coincided with the birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution.

The BJP manifesto contains several initiatives and policies, including the PM Suraj Portal for accessible credit facilities, an Anusandhan Fund for scientific research, and an increase in the Mudra scheme’s loan cap. The party also received over 1.5 million suggestions for its manifesto, showcasing the widespread participation in its formulation process.
