Vadodara Traffic Police officials get AC helmets to beat the heat this summer

The Vadodara traffic police has introduced AC helmets for its personnel to beat the scorching heat as temperatures soar to 40-45 degrees Celsius. Designed by students from IIM Vadodara, these innovative helmets are powered by a battery that lasts up to eight hours on a single charge.

The AC helmets feature vents that direct cool air to the head and a visor to protect the eyes from the harsh sunlight. Connected to a larger battery pack wrapped around the officer’s waist, the helmet weighs around 500 gm. These helmets aim to provide much-needed relief to police officials who often face the risk of fainting from the intense heat while on duty.

Currently, the AC helmets are being tested on a trial basis and have been distributed to officials at six intersections in Vadodara. The effectiveness and comfort of these helmets will be evaluated before a decision is made regarding wider implementation.

Following the footsteps of Vadodara, the initiative has also been introduced for traffic police officials in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. If successful, these AC helmets could become a game-changer in ensuring the well-being of police personnel working in extreme weather conditions.
