Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift India launch next month, to get new Z-Series engine

The highly anticipated fourth-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift is set to make its debut in the Indian market in May 2024, complete with a fresh design, innovative features, and a new 1.2-litre Z-Series three-cylinder petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. This major update is expected to enhance the overall appeal of the popular hatchback.

The new generation Maruti Suzuki Swift, also known as YED, was unveiled globally at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show and has since been launched in various international markets. The India-specific model will closely resemble the global version and will share the same platform as the current model.

In terms of exterior features, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift boasts a distinct appearance with a redesigned front profile, including updated radiator grille, new LED projector headlamps, and revamped bumper. The side profile showcases new alloy wheels and relocated rear door handles, while the rear sports redesigned LED taillights and a fresh bumper.

Inside the cabin, the Swift offers a modernized dashboard layout with a floating touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. The upholstery and seat materials have also been upgraded to enhance comfort and style.

On the safety front, the new Swift comes equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD and ESP as standard, three-point seatbelt for the second-row centre passenger, and a reverse parking camera. However, features like a 360-degree camera and ADAS may be exclusive to the global model.

Under the hood, the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift is powered by a new Z-Series 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology, offering similar power and torque output to the previous model. The engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission and an AMT option for added convenience.
