Honda 2Wheelers India inaugurates new CKD engine assembly line at Manesar plant

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has recently unveiled its new engine assembly line at the Manesar facility in Haryana. This new assembly line has a manufacturing capacity of 600 engines per day and will be responsible for producing engines ranging from 110 cc to 300 cc for various models in the company’s lineup. The focus will be on Completely Knocked Down (CKD) exports.

Established in 2001, Honda 2Wheeler India’s Global Resource Factory in Manesar serves as the headquarters for the brand’s domestic operations and has evolved into a major export hub over the years. The facility ships vehicles to 58 countries worldwide, including Europe, Central & Latin America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and SAARC nations.

Tsutsumu Otani, Managing Director, President & CEO of HMSI expressed, “We are pleased to introduce a new engine assembly line for CKD exports at our Global Resource Factory in Manesar. This move showcases our commitment to driving technological advancements in the industry and aims to enhance our export capabilities while adhering to global quality standards.”

The new Honda CKD engine assembly line is equipped with DC tools for critical torquing, a vision camera inspection system for quality control, and complete traceability of parts and processes. Additionally, there is a dedicated exhaust collection line and an acoustic chamber to inspect engine sound, ensuring precision and efficiency in production.

With a focus on innovation and quality, Honda continues to strengthen its position as the second-largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India, with exports playing a crucial role in its operations. The new engine assembly line marks another milestone in the brand’s commitment to excellence in the automotive industry.
