MG Motor India plans to expand presence in tier 3 & 4 cities. Here’s how

MG Motor India is set to expand its presence in Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities as well as rural areas across the country. The company plans to establish 100 new touchpoints by the end of the year to provide better accessibility and proximity to customers. These new dealerships will showcase the latest MG models, offer digital configurators, and provide aftersales support for a seamless customer experience.

With already over 380 touchpoints in 170 cities, MG Motor India boasts an 85% market presence in India. The company strategically positions its service centers within a 15-kilometer radius to ensure quick assistance within just 30 minutes. Satinder Singh Bajwa, Chief Commercial Officer of MG Motor India Pvt. Ltd., expressed enthusiasm for the transition to MG 2.0, the next phase of the brand’s journey in India. Extending the brand’s network to new regions will enhance sales and aftersales support.

As part of the MG 2.0 plan, MG Motor India will focus on strengthening its research and development, expanding manufacturing, and increasing annual production capacity from 100,000 vehicles to up to 300,000 vehicles. The company aims to achieve 100% nationwide coverage with 520 touchpoints in 270 cities by the end of FY2024. Additionally, MG Motor India will aggressively expand its electric vehicle portfolio to compete with rivals.

In collaboration with JSW Group, the newly formed joint venture JSW MG Motor India will invest ₹5,000 crore to enhance production capacity and launch a new car every 3-6 months. Sajjan Jindal of JSW Group believes that the future of the automotive world is electric and aims to capture a 33% share in India’s EV market by 2030. The companies plan to increase production from 1 lakh units to 3 lakh annually.
