Elon Musk confirms India visit won’t happen next week. Here's what he said

Elon Musk’s highly anticipated visit to India has been postponed indefinitely, as confirmed by the Tesla CEO himself. Musk was slated to arrive in India for a two-day visit, set to include a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and significant announcements regarding investments in various projects amounting to $2-3 billion.

The delay in Musk’s visit was attributed to pressing Tesla obligations that required his presence in the US for the company’s earnings call on April 23, 2024. In response to a post, Musk expressed his eagerness to reschedule the visit later in the year. This comes after his earlier announcement of looking forward to meeting PM Modi in India.

Speculations have been rife about Tesla’s potential entry into the Indian market, with various states vying to attract the automaker for setting up a manufacturing facility. The recent policy changes in the country have further fueled expectations of Tesla’s arrival, potentially paving the way for investments and job opportunities.

Moreover, Musk’s ambitious Starlink project, aimed at providing satellite broadband services, could also find a foothold in India. The postponement of his visit comes amidst key personnel departures from Tesla, including Rohan Patel and Drew Baglino, who played significant roles in the company’s India expansion plans.

Musk’s visit, although delayed, remains eagerly awaited for the potential investments and developments it could bring to India’s automotive and technology sectors.
