Bajaj Auto aims to make 10,000 Triumph motorcycles every month by September 2024

Bajaj Auto aims to make a significant mark in the premium motorcycle market in India by producing 10,000 units of Triumph motorcycles every month by September 2024. The two-wheeler giant’s CFO, Dinesh Thapar, revealed this ambitious target as part of the company’s strategy to boost its market share.

Since the launch of the Triumph Speed 400 and Triumph Scrambler 400 X models in July 2023, Bajaj Auto has sold about 42,000 units to dealerships. In the January-March 2024 period alone, the company managed to sell 18,800 units of these premium motorcycles. Now, the focus is on further ramping up production and sales.

Bajaj Auto’s partnership with the iconic British motorcycle manufacturer Triumph has expanded the company’s premium offerings, which already include brands like KTM and Dominar. Despite the growing demand for premium motorcycles in India, Triumph still faces tough competition from market leader Royal Enfield. However, with Bajaj’s aggressive production strategy and partnerships in place, the competition is expected to intensify in the coming months.

Thapar emphasized the company’s commitment to achieving the 10,000 units-a-month target by the first half of the fiscal year 2025, which falls between now and September. The production of Triumph motorcycles accounted for 2.1% of Bajaj Auto’s total two-wheeler sales in the last quarter, contributing to a 26% increase in overall two-wheeler sales compared to the same period last year. The company is determined to capitalize on this momentum and further strengthen its position in the premium motorcycle segment.
